I am huge fan of street art and pop art and one of the biggest contributors in the late ´70s was Keith Haring. Himself with some of the greatest artists of the ´80s like Basquiat, Andy Warhol or Madonna were part of the New York scene of that era when Eddie Sedgwick and Nico (Velvet Underground) were the stars of the time. This group of people with no boundaries, with no rules shake the art industry in so many ways. Imagine the 80´s in NYC with no AIDS, it was wild. Unfortunately some of them died very young because of this ´culture of excess´. But they leave us amazing ideas, pieces of art, a bright color boom and a new aproach of the concept of what is truly art.
Keith was one member of this distinguished squad and started to draw since he was a little child. His imagination and unique style make him one of the gratest artist of the pop culture. 
While studying art in NYC, he started to do some interventions in some of the empty blackboards of the NYC Subway. His drawings were very recognisable and he used to paint/draw them everywhere. 
Keith was a genious about signs and symbols (he studied semiotics in the university) with shapes he described the society of his era, their problems, his ideas and his work was full of political messages.
I had the chance to go to his most recently exhibition in Paris called “The Politican Line” in the Cultural Center ‘Centquatre 104′ of Paris . If you are planning a trip to Paris or you live in this city, I highly recommend the exhibition. His works are amazing. The piece that really hit me was “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell”.

Spanish: Me considero una gran fan del arte urbano y el pop art pop y uno de los mayores contribuidores a este tipo de arte fue Keith Haring a finales de los años ´70. Él mismo con algunos de los más grandes artistas de esa era como Basquiat, Andy Warhol y Madonna fueron parte de la escena de Nueva York de la época cuando Eddie Sedgwick y Nico (Velvet Underground) eran las estrellas de la época. Este grupo de personas que vivían una vida sin límites, sin reglas fueron los responsables de sacudir la industria del arte de muchas maneras. Imagínese vivir en la década de los ´80 en Nueva York a plena expansión artística y cultural y además sin problemas como el SIDA, debe de haber sido realmente salvaje. Por desgracia, algunos de estos prominentes artistas murieron muy jóvenes debido a esa “cultura del exceso”. Pero nos dejaron ideas sorprendentes, piezas de arte únicas, colores brillantes hechos arte y un nuevo aproach del concepto de lo que es realmente arte.
Keith era uno de los miembros de este distinguido grupo y comenzó a dibujar desde muy temprana edad. Su imaginación y su estilo único lo convertirían en uno de los grandes artistas de la cultura pop. Una vez alejado de su ciudad natal y establecido en la ciudad de Nueva York, mientras estudiaba artes en la Universidad, comenzó a hacer intervenciones en algunas de las pizarras vacías del metro de Nueva York. Sus dibujos eran muy reconocibles y utilizo la ciudad como su lienzo para dibujar en todas partes. Keith era un genio en el manejo de la simbología de las líneas utilizando signos y símbolos en todos sus trabajos (estudió Semiótica en la Universidad). De esta manera describía la sociedad de su época, sus problemas, representaba sus ideas y su trabajo estaba lleno de mensajes políticos.
Tuve la oportunidad de ir a su exposición más reciente en París llamada “The Political Line” en el Centro Cultural ´Centquatre 104´ de París. Si están planeando un viaje a Paris o viven en esa ciudad, la muestra es muy recomendable. Las dimensiones de sus trabajos son asombrosos. La que más me impacto fue su obra “The Marriage of Heaven and Hell” (“El Casamiento del cielo y el infierno”). Su simbolismo es increíble y su gran tamaño llaman la atención.
