We continue to share stories of creative people and this week in the space of “The C People” I want to share the story of “Fashion Swap Party” F.S.P, an uruguayan fashion blog that began four years ago as a clothing exchange event between friends. FSP is the front for three women who love fashion and design: Gabriela Carvallo, Virgnia Tarigo and Jimena Vazquez. Here is their story …
♡ How was the beginning of the blog, where did you get the idea? Fashion Swap Party (FSP) was created in March 2009 and began as a clothing exchange event between friends. Over the years we have been transforming the blog, with the learned experience to generate new sections, incorporate new members and we have continuously improved the aesthetics of the blog. Today we are one of the most visited fashion blogs from Uruguay and we are glad whenever we receive good comments from other bloggers and people passionate about the fashion world.
♡ Why Fashion Swap Party? The name came as mention of the clothing exchange event, but today we have expanded the concept of Swap. Now we see the blog as a forum for exchange of ideas on fashion and everything related to the design world.
♡ How is the editorial process of the blog? How do you pick the topics and posts ? We have several fixed columns/features on the blog and we change who write them. Meetings are online as we are in different cities in and out of Uruguay. We discussed things we’ve seen online, in stores or on the street and that is how new posts pop up.
♡ What do you expect for the blog in the next few years? We would like the blog to be consolidated as a local reference, a place to find any information about the uruguayian fashion world. Informing about every event in this field, no matter how small the event is. We love to write about national brands, whether small or large. We also would love to hear more about our readers, to make them comment more and generate a daily dialogue with them.
♡ Share with us three tips you would give to someone who is thinking of putting together their first blog … Our first recommendation would be to think carefully about a theme and a style that makes you different from the rest. It´s not a bad idea to start by making a research study about the existing blogs and see what are the trends, the features … you can learn a lot by visiting other blogs. The second step is to clearly define the unique sections you want to try on your blog. Finally, it is important to take good care of the details: everything from photos you will use, the banner of the blog should be aligned with your style. We recommend you reading the book by Joy Cho Deangdeelert called Blog, Inc. is a great tool for bloggers who are starting their path on the network.

Spanish: Seguimos compartiendo historias de gente creativa y esta semana en el espacio de “The C People” compartimos la historia de F.S.P “Fashion Swap Party” un blog de moda uruguayo que comenzó hace cuatro años como un evento de intercambio de ropa entre amigas que rapidamente se transformo en blog. F.S.P es la fachada para tres mujeres amantes de la moda y el diseño: Gabriela Carvallo, Virgnia Tarigo y Jimena Vázquez. Acá su historia…
♡ ¿Cómo fue el comienzo del blog, de dónde surgió la idea? Fashion Swap Party (FSP) surgió en marzo de 2009 a partir de un evento de intercambio de ropa entre amigas. A lo largo de los años hemos ido transformando el blog, con la experiencia aprendimos a generar nuevas secciones, incorporamos a nuevos miembros y hemos ido mejorando continuamente la estética del blog. Hoy somos uno de los blogs de moda más visitados de Uruguay y nos alegramos cada vez que recibimos elogios de otros bloggers y de gente apasionada por el mundo de la moda.
♡¿Por qué Fashion Swap Party? El nombre surgió como mención al evento de intercambio de ropa, pero hoy en día hemos ampliado el concepto de Swap (intercambio en inglés). Ahora vemos el blog como un espacio de intercambio de ideas sobre moda y todo lo relacionado con el mundo de diseño.
♡¿Cuál es el proceso editorial del blog? ¿Cómo se eligen los temas y posts a tratar? Tenemos varias columnas fijas en el blog y vamos variando quién las escribe. Las reuniones son online ya que nos encontramos en distintas ciudades dentro y fuera de Uruguay y en ellas decidimos qué hacer con las propuestas que vamos recibiendo. Discutimos acerca de cosas que hemos visto online, en tiendas o en la calle y ahí se nos ocurren nuevos posts.
♡¿Qué les gustaría que pasara o esperan para el blog en los próximos años? Nos gustaría que el blog se consolidara como el lugar de referencia donde encontrar todo tipo de información sobre eventos e iniciativas del mundo de la moda en Uruguay. No importa que tan chica es la feria de diseño o el desfile que organicés siempre estamos dispuestas a publicar flyers y contar acerca de la propuesta. Nos encanta escribir acerca de marcas nacionales, sean pequeñas o grandes. Siempre les damos la misma importancia en el post que armamos. También nos encantaría sacarle la timidez a nuestros lectores y lograr que comenten más los posts para generar un diálogo diario con ellos.
♡ Tres consejos que le darían a alguien que está pensando en armar su primer blog… Nuestra primera recomendación sería que piensen bien en un tema y un estilo que te haga diferente al resto. No está mal comenzar por hacer un estudio de los blogs existentes y ver cuáles son las tendencias, los temas… se aprende mucho visitando otros blogs. El segundo paso es definir de manera clara las secciones únicas que quieres tratar en tu blog. Por último, es importante cuidar mucho los detalles: todo, desde las fotografías hasta los banners del blog debe estar alineado con tu estilo. Recomendamos leer el libro de Joy Cho Deangdeelert llamado Blog, Inc. es una gran herramienta para bloggers que estén comenzando su camino en la red.
